Why You Should STOP Buying Supermarket Cleaning Products NOW!

Stop, buying supermarket, cleaning products. Yeah, I said it. I’m THAT person but it’s for your own good 😆.

Not only do they look plasticy - SUPER ugly and cheap…I just moved into our new sustainable eco home...(that just won an award too! yay for us!) and I wanted everything to look nice, especially the cleaning products.

☠️ Supermarket cleaning products usually contain toxic synthetic fragrances, artificial, colours, or dyes not to even mention all the rest!

Some of them only list a few of their ingredients and the rest you have to look up on the Internet. ⁉️

Many of these chemicals cause skin irritations, inflammation and even can trigger asthma even in people that don't usually get it! It's so crazy what all these supermarket cleaners can do and yet no one seems to worry or understand that these companies are killing people. These chemicals have only been around since the 1950s and have been accumlating in our bodies over time.

The term ‘fragrance’ itself is not regulated and can contain a list of up to about 3000 different chemicals which is scary. Many of these chemicals are known endocrine disruptors and are carcinogenic. This means that our hormones are affected which is not good for us women, as they are already running amok all through the month as it is..am I right?!

♻️They’re also not great for the environment, especially if you’re on a septic system like we are on our rural property.

Here’s what most detergents or cleaning products say on the back :

⚠️ Keep out of reach of children not to be taken do not swallow. Eye and skin irritant.

⚠️ Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.

⚠️Rinse hands and avoid prolonged contact and or wear rubber gloves.

⚠️If there or skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water if your eyes washed out immediately with a large amount of water.

You might also like to think about the sustainability of the product that you purchased from the supermarket. Where was it made? As many of the popular brands are made in Europe and need to be transported to Australia to be packaged.

This is using extra fossil fuels in transit. Even if the ugly plastic bottles claim to be made with recycled plastic…which some are doing now. This is also not ideal.

And in case you didn't know...Even though plastic was originally meant to be an 'eco' product that could be re-used over and over...IT NEARLY NEVER HAPPENS! Most plastic gets only used once and never gets recycled. Which is a shame because it is a great material...but has certainly got a bad name for itself lately.

Recycling plastic can only be done seven times that’s why you see the numbers 1 to 7 on the bottom of the bottles. After this they could be made into strong plastic products like our recycled plastic decking or benches, but most plastic does not get recycled and world is already full of lots of plastic.

I highly recommend the new doTERRA Clean range that is eco and made right her in Australia! It's so low tox you can even use the laundry powder as the dishwashing powder which is insane! Apart from the purest essential oils, it only has 3 ingredients. I love how they included Tea Tree and Lemon Eucalyptus Essential oils and a little Cinnamon Essential oil too as the scent is just DIVINE!
