DIY Natural Flea & Tick Repellent for Pets

with Wild Orange, Lavender & Lemongrass Essential Oils

The scent of wild orange is a bright, cheery one...that is, unless you’re a tick or a flea. Essential oils are increasingly being used to prevent fleas and ticks because the natural essential oil applications are a cheap and effective alternative.

As animals are more sensitive to scent than humans are, it’s important that you take into consideration your pet’s size and the respective dilution ratio when it comes time to apply your protocol.

Wild orange is used synergistically in this blend, along with lemongrass, cedarwood, thyme, and lavender; but, alone, it provides antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties and is loaded with antioxidants.

Apply the below blend, as directed, for natural flea and tick repelling relief:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 - 1 Cup of Carrier Oil (coconut or olive oil is good)
  • 1 drop Cedarwood Essential Oil
  • 1 drop Thyme Essential Oil
  • 3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 3 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
  • 4 drops Wild Orange Essential Oil

Directions

Combat ticks and fleas by mixing all ingredients in a small bowl, spray bottle or jar until well combined then apply directly to the area of concern, massaging into the fur.

If you concerned then remember that you should just dilute more. If you're pet is small then dilute more, if bigger, then it might be okay but always dilute when using essential oils on pets.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all essential oils are recommended for animals, especially cats and horses. ** Consult your veterinary doctor before using any essential oil for pets.
